Michał Szwarc


Advisor to the Jury, Managing Director JP Morgan


Michał Szwarc has over 18 years experience in the investment banking across the CEE region. He is an expert in mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, debt markets and strategic advisory. Michal Szwarc was appointed J.P. Morgan’s Head of Polish Investment Banking in September 2011. Prior to his current position, he worked for 12 years for Credit Suisse, since 2006 as Head of Credit Suisse Investment Banking in Poland.

Michal studied economics at Warsaw University and Columbia University, New York. Michał Szwarc has advised on several M&A transactions on the Polish and International market, including in particular:

  • Combination of Grupa Azoty with Zaklady Azotowe Pulawy resulting in creation of one of the largest chemical groups in Europe (2012)
  • Public offerings of private companies such as Alior Bank (US$663mm), the largest ever IPO of a private company in Poland (2012)
  • ZESPÓŁ ELEKTROWNI PĄTNOW-ADAMOW-KONIN S.A., IPO, Joint Global Co-ordinator (2012)
  • PKO BP, High Grade Bond, Joint Bookrunner, US$1 bn (2012), the largest Polish bank foreign currency bond
  • PKO BP, Accelerated Book Build, Global Co-ordinator and Joint Bookrunner. PLN3.1bn (2012)
  • Advised the Polish Ministry of Treasury on the attempt to sell majority stake in ENEA(2011)
  • PKO BP, Accelerated Book Build, Global Co-ordinator and Joint Bookrunner. PLN3.1bn (2012)
  • Accelerated Bookbuilding of Ministry of State Treasury shares in Tauron PLN 1,282mm (2011)
  • Initial Public Offering of PZU PLN 8,069mm (2010), largest Polish IPO ever
  • Accelerated Bookbuilding of Ministry of State Treasury shares in PGE PLN 3,982mm (2010)
  • Accelerated Bookbuilding of Ministry of State Treasury shares in ENEA US$385mm (2010)
  • Advised Eaton Park on its public tender offer for 100% interest in Ruch: PLN 620m (July 2010)
  • Advised EQT on its tender offer for HTL and related financing: EUR 240m (Oct 2009)
  • Advised KGHM and PGE on their acquisition of 9.1% stake in Polkomtel for €397mm (2008)
  • Advised Permira on it‘s acquisition of Provimi and minorities in Rolimpex for €1,245mm (2007)
  • Advised GTech and Innova Capital on sale of their 100% interest in Polcard $325mm (2007)
  • Acquisition of 33% stake in Netia by Novator and related financing $185mm (2006)
  • Fully marketed secondary offering of Getin PLN 1,231 (2006)
  • IPO PKO BP PLN 7,600mm (2004), 2nd largest Polish IPO ever
